About :A singular work in Georg Friedrich Haendel's lyric production, particularly because of its tragi-comic quality, 'Serse' is also one of his last operas. It premiered in London in 1738, and is based on an anonymous libretto, after Niccolò Minato and Silvio Stampiglia. In the famous opening aria 'Ombra mai fu', Serse, King of Persia, softly sings his love for the comforting shade of the plane tree in his garden.
