About :Edward Elgar (1857-1934) was an English composer and conductor whose best-known compositions are now part of the international classical music repertoire. Among those pieces are: the Enigma Variations, the Pomp and Circumstance Marches, both his Violin and Cello concertos, and two symphonies. Elgar was the first composer to take the gramophone seriously. Between 1914 and 1925, he conducted a series of recordings of his works.
