About :Giovanni Bottesini (1821-1889) was an Italian double bass player, conductor and composer. He was one of Verdi’s friends, whom he met in Venice, and conducted Aida’s premiere in Cairo on December 24th, 1871, as part of the opening of the Suez Canal. Bottesini loved pastiche and often played 'in the style of' other composers at intermissions.
